Giving Thanks...

A green house update

The end walls are up; the plants are happy; the workers are working; the seeds are sown; the children are grazing; the mama and the papa are giving thanks. For this, and so much more.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Leg Warmers?

Mostly, what I have here, are leg warmers for Carmel. Mostly, you say? Yes! You see I have really wanted to cover those cute little legs up with some hand made mama love, but there was something about my practical side that wasn't letting me make her leg warmers.

I kept thinking that they weren't practical and that she would grow out of them too fast and on and on. Were sweaters okay to make? Yes. What about hats? They grow out of those. Yes, hats are fine too. Then what's the deal with the leg warmers? I just don't know. But look, you can see that she now has leg warmers. I only had to find a way to trick myself into believing that these could be as practical as a sweater or a hat. Or even gloves!
So yes, Carmel gets some adorable mini leg warmers to keep her darling little legs nice and toasty and when not in use, fingerless mitts for Owen...

Or me.

Train rides

So my little boy got to take a train ride for the first time today. Oh the excitement. Those little boys do love trains, don't they? But when I go back and look through the pictures I can't help asking myself who enjoyed it more...
Was is the big boy or the little boy?

It wasn't Owen who sought out the engineer and excitedly began asking all sorts of train questions. Oh no, that would have been my dear sweet Andy . "Shipped in from the east coast, you don't say....Now, what about this pipe that's coming out over here in front of these wheels....Sand!...Is that right?...Sure, a little friction to get it moving I suppose....right, right...Yeah, so it's that old...well now, that's really somethin'...and is that what this line is running to here?...How many volts did you say?....."

Owen would periodically nod to confirm that, Yes! Sand is an excellent idea or Yes! 450 volts is a lot of power.

All I could do was stand back and watch, listen, as my heart skipped beats, usually from coffee, but this time from some overdose of pure sweetness. What a perfect pair they are.

A call to knit

I'm certain I should be doing something else when both of my sweet little people decide to take a nap at the same time. Do some dishes. Fold some laundry. Clean a floor. Paint some trim. Well the last one may be a bit lofty, but something like that. And then...well...you know...

then there's this.

For a walk

I was flipping through some pictures of last week, or was it the week before that, I just don't know. Time sure goes fast doesn't it? Anyway, I thought I should post a few of these. They were taken while on a wonderful walk with some friends on a beautiful day. Looking at them just makes me smile, for so many reasons. I love that little boy looking like a tiny Andy in the making; my little girl loving the water run through her fingers (and up her legs!); pretend fishing with sticks and Owen casting his "fishing line" to catch a big one.

I am surrounded by incredible, creative and interested people both big and small. What a joy they are to be around.
